Siam Park

Siam Park is a day out that I always recommend for anyone wanting fun in the sun, it never fails to entertain year after year! Voted the world’s best water park, you might have heard of the famous Siam Park before visiting Tenerife. It’s a brilliant place to visit for the day and is very accessible from any of our resorts as it’s located in Costa Adeje. As a bit of a thrill seeker, I love spending a day at the park because there’s a brilliant selection of attractions that will have your heart racing, and when you’re in need of a break there are also plenty of attractions that will show you a more relaxing side of the park. No matter where you fall on the ride-loving scale you’ll enjoy the Mai Thai River which winds through the park’s exotic landscape and visit Siam Beach where you can sunbathe along the white sand beach and hit the (artificial) waves at your leisure. I firmly believe that Siam Park is fantastic for adults and families with children of any age and makes for a brilliant value day out that you won’t want to miss!

Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque Resort

This was one of my favourite hotels from the moment I stepped through the doors. I’d highly recommend it for couples and families looking for a relaxing and indulgent stay. For me, I love the choice, this hotel has everything; it’s set across a beautiful range of gardens, terraces and buildings which are home to 18 restaurants, bars and cafes so you can enjoy a spectacular range of cuisines and hang-out spots right on your doorstep meaning you don’t have far to head back to your room for a siesta. However, the spa in the hotel is where I focus my energy. It’s recognised for its top of the range spa facilities and brilliant thalassotherapy treatments where you’ll get the ultimate relaxation experience making your holiday complete. On occasion, I’ve still visited the spa while staying in a different hotel as a trip to Tenerife for me isn’t complete without this little indulgence; so if you prefer a bit of the action of maybe Playa de las Americas, you can still get yourself a visitor pass for the day and recharge before you head back to your heady resort.

La Caleta, Costa Adeje

When I’m on the beautiful island of Tenerife, I love to occasionally escape the hustle and bustle of busier resorts in the evenings and finding charming spots where I can take in the surroundings. For an evening of delicious food in an atmospheric setting I’d recommend visiting the picturesque harbour village of La Caleta, especially for couples as it’s perfect for romantic walks near the beach followed by a sophisticated evening of wine and local cuisine. The area was once a fishing village and seafood is still one of the reasons it’s popular today. To make the most of an evening in La Caleta; sample the fresh cuisine and try out the different restaurants along the coast. Sometimes I’d have a relaxed dinner here and then made my way back to a larger resort for the rest of the night as you can easily catch the bus to the neighbouring towns of Playa de las Americass or Costa Adeje.

Santa Cruz and Carnival

Even though there is a strong temptation to stay along the south coast where the long sandy beaches are at your fingertips, I always make time to visit the Island’s vibrant capital, Santa Cruz. The city is located in the north-east of Tenerife, making it fall off the radar for some tourists. However, because of this it has a strong affinity with the local people making it a brilliant place to sample local cuisine and explore at your own pace. The highlight for me is the Carnival if you can time it right! Santa Cruz also hosts the second largest carnival in the world in February. I had the pleasure of experiencing it for myself a couple of years ago and couldn’t recommend it more for families, groups and couples alike. The streets come alive with performers in flashy costumes as upbeat music and bright lights and decorations fill the air. It didn’t take long before I was joining in with the dancing and celebrations, it’s guaranteed to leave you in the best spirits and make you fall in love with the diverse and colourful city.

Teide National Park

If you want to discover Tenerife's diverse landscape, then you shouldn’t miss the mighty Teide volcano and taking in the most spectacular views over the island from Teide National Park. I am not an experienced hiker but quickly realised that their trails cater for any ability and wherever you start from you’ll experience the Island’s unique terrain and get the chance to navigate your way around the craters, lava flows and of course, volcanoes! When I visited, I decided to go with an organised group, which I’d recommend for anyone who likes to learn a bit more about the area, flora and fauna and find new friends throughout the day. If you think you’d prefer taking on the trails at your own pace, I’d suggest getting a hire car to more easily access the park. I loved every aspect of the park, and the sense of achievement I felt at the highest peak isn’t a feeling I’ll forget anytime soon and nor will you!
