Puerto del Carmen

Formerly known as Tiñosa and only renamed in 1957 in honour of its patron saint, Puerto del Carmen began life as an important fishing village, sheltered from the Atlantic trade winds, and has since evolved into a holiday hot-spot popular with visitors from all over Europe and beyond.

Playa Grande is the island’s biggest beach, and is lined with a busy seafront promenade overflowing with shops, restaurants and bars. This promenade is also the place to be after dark, with a vibrant nightlife scene of bars, clubs and pubs attracting revellers of all ages. For a quieter evening, the nearby old town is the place to find a more sedate range of seafood restaurants and cocktail bars.
