Travel Requirements

Essential information to help you prepare for your journey.

Travel Documents

All of our FlyDirect holiday destinations are within the European Union.

Please note that it is each passengers’ responsibility to ensure that they have the correct and valid travel documents.

We are unable to advise on the validity of your documents and cannot be held responsible if any passenger is denied boarding due to incorrect or invalid travel documents.

Further to the recent introduction of the ETA system for visa-free visitors to the UK and islands, we recommend that passengers who reside in the islands but are travelling on a non-British passport carry with them proof of their settled status, pre-settled status or other indefinite leave to remain, even where this is digitally linked to their passport.

For further information:

We recommend checking the latest official travel advice and entry requirements before you travel on the FCDO website.

EES – Entry/Exit System

The EES is an automated IT system that records the movements of non-EU nationals each time they cross the external borders of European countries using the system.

In addition to data from your travel documents, the following information will be recorded and stored:

The system began rolling out in October 2025, with a six-month implementation period across all participating countries.

ETIAS Information

In future, all passengers travelling to EU countries on a British passport will need to apply for an ETIAS travel authorisation before their trip, as the UK is no longer part of the European Union.

The official launch date of the ETIAS programme has not yet been confirmed, but it is currently expected to launch in late 2026 and be mandatory by April 2027. We will continue to update this page as new information becomes available.

Once approved, the ETIAS authorisation will be electronically linked to your passport and will remain valid for three years, or until your passport expires (whichever comes first).

Every traveller will require their own ETIAS authorisation. The expected cost is €20, although certain travellers are exempt from the fee, including:

Further details will be provided once the official launch date is confirmed.
