YCCS Superyacht Regatta (25 – 29 May 2027)
Held in the spectacular waters around Porto Cervo, the YCCS Superyacht Regatta brings some of the world’s most impressive sailing yachts to the Costa Smeralda. With racing taking place against the backdrop of Sardinia’s beautiful coastline and the nearby La Maddalena Archipelago, it’s a spectacular event for sailing enthusiasts and visitors alike.
Summer Events in Porto Cervo (June – Sept)
Throughout the summer, Porto Cervo hosts a varied programme of music, culture, entertainment and family events. From concerts and performances to literary events and celebrations, the glamorous heart of the Costa Smeralda comes alive during the summer months, offering plenty to enjoy alongside its famous marina, restaurants and beautiful coastline.
Festa di Stella Maris, Porto Cervo (August)
One of Porto Cervo’s most traditional celebrations, the Festa Patronale di Stella Maris takes place in honour of the town’s patron saint. The celebrations traditionally include areligious service and a procession at sea, offering visitors the chance to experience a little of Sardinia’s local culture and traditions.
Costa Smeralda Classical Music Festival (Sept)
Held in Porto Cervo, this popular festival brings a series of classical music performances to the Costa Smeralda. Taking place towards the end of the summer season, it provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy live music in one of Sardinia’s most glamorous settings.
Getting Around
Train
Sardinia has a railway network connecting many of the island’s towns and cities, although services are more limited than in some mainland European destinations. From Olbia, trains provide connections to destinations including Golfo Aranci and other parts of northern Sardinia. Travelling by train can be a scenic way to explore the island.
Taxi
Taxis are available in Olbia and across the popular resorts of north-east Sardinia, including the Costa Smeralda. You’ll find taxi ranks at Olbia Airport and in many larger towns and resorts, while your accommodation may also be able to arrange a taxi for you. As distances between some resorts and attractions can be significant, it’s worth checking fares in advance for longer journeys.
Bus
Sardinia has a network of local and regional buses connecting Olbia with towns, villages and resorts across the north-east of the island. Services can be a useful way to travel between some of the larger destinations, although timetables and frequency may vary depending on the season.
Car Hire
Car hire is widely available from Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport and is one of the best ways to explore the beautiful coastline, beaches and towns of north-east Sardinia at your own pace. Drivers must hold a full valid driving licence, and a credit card is usually required when collecting your vehicle.
