Palau

Palau is a lively seaside town surrounded by beautiful beaches, rugged granite landscapes and crystal-clear Mediterranean waters. With its attractive harbour and views across to the islands of the La Maddalena Archipelago, it is an ideal base for exploring one of the most beautiful parts of northern Sardinia.

Palau’s waterfront is the heart of the resort, with a marina, restaurants, cafés and shops lining the harbour. From here, boats regularly head out towards the La Maddalena Archipelago, a collection of stunning islands renowned for their turquoise waters, secluded beaches and dramatic scenery. The short crossing makes a day exploring the islands an easy and memorable part of a Palau holiday.

Closer to home, the coastline around Palau is dotted with sandy beaches and sheltered coves. Spiaggia di Palau Vecchio is close to the town, while nearby Cala Capra and Porto Pollo offer beautiful beaches and clear waters. The area is also popular for water sports, with Porto Pollo particularly well known for windsurfing and kitesurfing.

One of Palau’s most recognisable sights is the Roccia dell’Orso, or Bear Rock, a huge granite formation shaped by the wind over thousands of years. The short walk to the viewpoint is rewarded with spectacular panoramic views across the coastline and islands.

In the evening, Palau comes alive around the harbour and town centre, with restaurants serving fresh seafood and traditional Sardinian dishes alongside relaxed bars and cafés.
