Events in Costa del Sol
Jerez Horse Fair (April 4th – May 1st 2027)
Head to the beautiful city of Jerez and experience the spectacular Feria del Caballo, one of Andalusia’s most famous celebrations. Expect elegant horse parades, traditional carriages, flamenco, sherry and lively casetas, creating a wonderful atmosphere throughout the city. 2027 events will be particularly special as the fair celeberates its 60th anniversary.
Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix – Jerez (TBC April 2027)
Experience the excitement of MotoGP at the legendary Circuito de Jerez, one of Spain’s most famous motorsport venues. Thousands of passionate fans descend on the region for a thrilling weekend of high-speed racing, creating an electric atmosphere both at the circuit and throughout the city, 2027 exact dates to be confirmed.
The Fuengirola Fair (8th – 12th October 2027)
Experience traditional Andalusian culture at Nerja’s annual fair, celebrating the town’s patron saints. Expect colourful processions, flamenco, live music, horse displays, fairground attractions and a lively atmosphere throughout this beautiful coastal town.
Estepona International Marathon (TBC October 2027)
Following the launch of Estepona’s first international marathon in 2026, the event is expected to return in 2027, with runners taking on a spectacular route along the Costa del Sol, the 2027 date is yet to be confirmed.
Getting Around
Train
There is an excellent trainline (C1) that runs from Malaga City, past the airport, and down the coast to Fuengirola.
Airport to Torremolinos – approx. 10 mins
Airport to Benalmadena – approx. 17 mins
Airport to Fuengirola – approx. 35 mins
Taxi
Taxis are readily available in all resorts along the Costa del Sol. Your accommodation can usually call one on your behalf, and there are clearly signed taxi ranks in the town centres. At the airport taxi rank, all drivers display a table of fares, and all vehicles are fitted with meters.
Bus
The Costa del Sol has an extensive and reliable bus network linking Malaga, the airport, and all major coastal resorts. Services are operated by several companies, with routes running frequently throughout the day.
Car Hire
Car hire is widely available throughout the Costa del Sol, operating at Malaga Airport and in the main resorts. Drivers must hold a full valid driving licence and a credit card is usually required as a security deposit.
